Join us for the Uptown Shelby Art Crawl on Saturday, September 12th!

From 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., artists from the Cleveland County Arts Council will be popping up at participating businesses throughout Uptown Shelby. Stop in to watch artists demonstrate their work, shop their pieces, ask questions, and enjoy a little creativity along the way!

At Box Turtle Books, we’re excited to welcome local writer Gray Rinehart! Gray is a USAF space operations veteran, an award-winning author of nonfiction, a singer/songwriter, and a craftsman. He is the only person to have commanded an Air Force satellite tracking station, written speeches for Presidential appointees, devised a poetic form, and had music on The Dr. Demento Show. His lunar colonization novel was compared to early Heinlein and Pournelle; his short fiction has appeared in Analog, Asimov's, and elsewhere; he has four albums of mostly science-fiction-and-fantasy-inspired music; and he builds and carves a variety of woodcrafts.
